Texas Trigger Weekend at Enchanted Rock was an absolute blast. Firebelly members from all over Texas came together to camp, hike outback trails, explore subterranean caves in the middle of the night, participate in grub experiment competitions, juggle hot coals, belt out songs around the campfire, and share laughter and stories. The weather couldn't have been better, and we even enjoyed a nice storm while we slept in our tents the last night. It couldn't have been a more perfect weekend. Here is a picture of twelve firebellies hanging out around camp while other exhausted hikers napped in their tents and hammocks before dinnertime on the last evening of the trip:
Several members from Firebelly England, headed up by Andrew "Buzz" Nelson, recently took a 20-mile backpacking trip through the North Yorkshire Moors. On their trek, they passed by the Captain Cook Monument, Roseberry Topping (a picturesque hilltop looking over the Tees Valley), and on into the National Park. The trek was a sendoff celebration for several young men who left for university this month.
Firebelly member, David Yakos, is a finalist as an Everyday Edison on PBS. He's 1 of 25 narrowed down from 12,000 entries. This weekend he's competing to be in the top 10. Voting ends later this week, so vote for him here and pass it on:

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.” -Mark Twain
The Bozeman, Montana Firebelly chapter is heading into the Beartooth Mountains tomorrow morning for some epic backpacking, camping, and fly-fishing. The expedition will be led by David Yakos and Steve Sanford.
Leave some fish in the river for the rest of us, fellas, and play nice with the grizzlies...
FIREBELLY will be at Enchanted Rock in the Texas Hill Country on September 14-16, 2012. Click HERE for more information.

For all you adventure-junkies out there, here's a video to make you itch...
"I learned early that the richness of life is found in adventure.
Adventure calls on all the faculties of mind and spirit.
It develops self-reliance and independence.
Life then teems with excitement.
But man is not ready for adventure unless he is rid of fear.
For fear confines him and limits his scope.
He stays tethered by strings of doubt and indecision
and has only a small and narrow world to explore."
-William O. Douglas (from OF MEN AND MOUNTAINS)
The new Firebelly website will be launching tomorrow... Daily Journal posts will commence as well.
"...the mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation." -Thoreau
